Let's kick off the summer with some quick Home Dec projects that take less than one hour to make. Bring on the red, white and blue🕶️👙🦀🍉🍧 !!
Gather these supplies to make some colorful, Patriotic Coasters.
You wll need:
A quarter yard each of two coordinating fabrics cut into eight 5" squares of each color
Cotton batting cut into eight 4,5" squares
Construction thread to match
Take one of each fabric square and lay them down right sides together.
Mark a line with a chalk marker from corner to corner
Sew 1/4" .from the marked line on each side, using a piecing foot or laser line if machine has one.
Carefully cut on the marked line. Open and press seam to one side. Now you have two squares.
Now lay down fabric squares, right sides together. Lay a batting suare on top. Pin all three pieces and mark a two inch opening on one side as shown in the photo on the right.
Stitch 1/4" around from one marked line to the other, leaving the two inches open. Clip corners and trim batting as shown.
Turn right side out and press, chop sticks work great for the corners. Press well.
Slip stitch opening. 
A Fabulous Finish; 2.5 yards of 60" wide Home Dec canvas simply serged or turned under on the raw edges makes one easy runner! Look, I left the selvages on!
